Well, even after getting a home almost custom built, we still have modifications going on...convert one bedroom into a craft room, convert a closet into a storage with shelving. The craftroom, we hired out.

The closet will be my task. There will be other stuff I will be building as the year progresses.

So the misses, allowed me to get a tool.
After reading some of the posts here and on-line reviews.
I bought a Hitachi NT50AE2.

I also bought a bunch of brads (still being shipped).
SENCO 1-1/2" and 1" length (18 Ga) @ 5000 each!!!

Total cost $99 & change....good price.
Bought everything on Amazon.

Just bought an 18 ga myself, not as cool lookin' as yours. Mine, a plain jane Porter Cable from HD.

I looooove the way it works.

The 16ga nailer was just blasting through stuff at its lightest setting, but the 18ga is much gentler and has leeetle tiny heads that hardly show.

I thought of buying it at Lowes or was it HD, but it was like $90 or something like that.
Then I looked on Amazon and it was $71 with free shipping (I am a Prime member).
Can't beat that price.
This weekend, I will hit Lowes to get the wood for my project.

I thought Lowe's sold the Hitachi nailers for decent prices, but looks like you found better.

The Hitachis I looked at were more resin-type construction (thus lighter than competitors using aluminum or magnesium). Are they Chi-knee build, or Tye-wan? Mine is the latter.

PS: All the contractors around here go to Lowe's for lumber, not HD. Opinion is that Lowe's has better quality lumber. HD can be dripping-wet green.

Congrats.
Once you use a pneumatic nailer, you'll never want to go near a hammer again.

When we built our house, I did most of the interior finish work, so I bought two Bostitch finish guns; 15ga and 18ga. They allow you to be super precise.

Also rented a flooring nailer, I did the whole house in oak. Kept the nailer for so long, that it would have been cheaper to buy one and then sell it on Craigslist

This one shows it was made in Taiwan
The main body is some type of metal.
The brad cartridge is plastic.

As for the wood, there is also a local lumber company called McCoy's
http://www.mccoys.com/

On line they also have the MDF I need.
I will stop there first to see if they have the sizes I need.
