Bought a new house, time to start planning...

Hello all, new to this forum. I just bought a new (to me) house with a 20x20 two car garage. Nothing special but needs some attention.

So I get to start dreaming for a couple of months before I actually take possession and can start messing with it. I'll be reading lots here about flooring, lights, storage, etc. This looks like a great forum, I can't wait to get your help.

So after a week of lurking and reading, here's where my mind is:

1. Tiles in lieu of epoxy (or other coatings). Yes they cost alot more, but what is the cost of all the angst and effort (and probability of success) with surface prep? Thinking Racedeck based on reading so far...

2. Don't really need one YET, but wouldn't a lift be awesome? Bendpak four post with separate rolling jacks (not really sure what these are) seems to be a good match for what I would use it for.

3. If I get a lift, I need to change the door to a high lift type. This seems like a good idea even without a lift. Still some good reading to do here.

4. I have a contemporary house with a "single slope" (or "shed type"?) roofline. There is an access to unused storage above the 9' 10" ceiling. I'm trying to figure out how to use that space up there. The trusses (shaped like triangles) seem to get in the way of anything that I would try to do in the high portion of that space. Need to do some structural research here.

5. Also looking to see how to add a few windows or skylights to introduce some natural lighting to the place.

So, still reading away with interest. Need to start buying the lottery tickets to pay for it all. Don't even move in for another 5 or 6 weeks, so getting a little bit ahead of myself...
