I found this baby at the swap meet today. The opening is just under 4"! :scared::scared::scared:

I've got to get this on a scale to see how much it weighs. My guess is around 50 pounds.

Anyway, I thought you guys would appreciate it. :D

had to flame cut a 10" wide version for a special "wheel bearing" adjustment and use jib crane to pull wrench tight.

will make a great conversation piece for your friends.

They had a couple of those in the antique store the other day. Probably closer to 2 1/2 to 3 1/2" size. If I remember one was in the $50 range. I was not in the frame to spend $50 for a wall hanger. I'll look up the name of the store if you are interested.

You win, your's is bigger than mine...

Of course, mine has FINE THREADS!!!

And once mine is tight, it's not ever coming loose...

If all else fails. that wee beastie would make a helluva paperweight...

That is super sweet

What are your plans for it? Are you going to clean it up and paint it or?......

When someone asks what "that thing" is. You should reply in a very calm, somber, worry free "O that's just my 4" wrench". :dunno:

Just be careful in use, you know those open ends are prone to spreading. I personally would only buy a 12 or 6 pt 4" wrench. Afraid I may apply too much torque to the open end and round the fastener. :D  :lol_hitti

Damn!!! and I like that idea you slide it through the handler on the side of toolchest. BTW what brand is that s.s tool box? Looks nice from the angle view

It is a fantastic toolbox. I bought it at Costco about 10 years ago. I think I paid around $650 for it.

That's going to take a large setup for electrolysis !! ;)

Will this thread be an extended life journey for this monster wrench??

Just to the right of the horseshoe (center of door) is my Williams 19A 4-1/4" opening by 1-7/8 thick jaw knuckle buster. Logo design indicates it was made 1924 to 1947. 38" long. I like bigg'ens!

Anyone here near pomona ca. that could help me check out that craiglist wrench? I want to make sure its not a torched out wrench and maybe follow thru with transaction.

thanks,
mike

Hey Exceller8,

Is that this one from CL? If not...you can buy this one too! http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/tls/3785022745.html

EDIT: NO! it's a different one!

Thanks Dave! I think I'm good with the one right now. I don't know if I want to invest anymore $$$ into a tool that I can't use, but the one I have is pretty cool!

Note: I bought a scratcher today and won $100, pretty much paid for the wrench.

Who knows?
Wow, it's been a while since anyone's posted photos of a wrench that large.
If it wasn't for GJ, most people wouldn't know they existed.

I'll be the 3rd "That is awesome!!" in this thread.

I'd pay 80 bucks for that (or the one in Pomona) if it was local.

I feel much better now. Even though I was happy paying $80 for it, I've been waiting for the person who thought I was nuts for doing so.
