Bought a ShopSmith today.....

I only paid $80 for it. The rust on the rails is only surface rust and it works fine.
There's alot of people on here who prefer a hard-station specific tool per use. But I'm limited both on space and woodworking knowledge in addition to money.
I think this should work pretty well for me in for now.

There's a smaller bandsaw at Sears on closeout for $79.99 that I was interested in, but the fact that I can use this as a light duty lathe and other things also is a bonus!

There's a few others on my local CL for $550 (Stand alone bandsaw), $700, $1500 and $2000.

It belonged to the fellows Father-in-Law. He used it alot but is retired now.
Think I got a decent deal for it?

That's pretty cool. My grandfather had one and I've always kinda wanted one just because of him. When I was little, maybe 5 years old, he asked me, "What toy would you like today?" I told him I wanted a toy car. He used his Shopsmith to lathe the wheels out of wood. He changed the Shopsmith to a table saw and cut the basic outline of a car out. He then changed the Shopsmith to a sander and smoothed the car outline out and pretty soon I had a toy car. I thought that was so cool.

Yeah, that's a great deal. Can't touch them around here for less than $350, and they're usually 3-4 times that.

Hey Rick, Long time no see. Hope everything's going well for you.

Glad ya'll like it. Didn't even know what it was last night but I saw the bandsaw portion of it and that got me digging.
I can't spend alot on it all at once for the accessories, but I'll add them slowly and go from there. Think I'll go for the router function first, then the stuff for the lathe.
