Recently bought an angle grinder stand to turn an angle grinder in to a mini chop saw.
Not that I need more tools, but heck, this is GJ after-all
3 Incentives to buy this
1) the price, at $25 I thought I got a lot for my money. well constructed, cast iron base and cast aluminum swivel. the plastic chip shield is a bit chinzy but the rest of it is up to par . not entirely sure if the shield is needed if you use the original from the grinder
2) It will be handy for cutting small stuff ( I think). The vice jaws are very close to the blade so you can grip short stuff & cut it
3) I have a good grinder that the linkage for the switch is broken , so it's unusable the way it is. I will attach it to this, remove the switch assy & put an inline switch of some sort .

The assembly instructions are very poor, I read thru them and then decided just to gather the pcs & put it together. anyone with basic fab skills should easily put it together . I spent more time tweaking it to align everything than I did on assembly

I bought one of those about 5 years ago from Northern Tool.
Used it a couple of times; not impressed. Base is small and unstable on anything of any size. Found it quicker to use the grinder freehand on most cuts. Tossed it in a box my wife was taking to a local charity thrift shop.
YMMV.

I have one similar, not that I use it much. But it does come in handy when I use it.....especially for the price.

I bought this one from Northern Tool in the mid-90s and set it up with a cheap angle grinder they had. I don't think either is still available there any more. I needed it at the time for a project that earned it's keep. It works great for what it is, no complaints, but I've only used it sparingly since. I doubt I've been though a dozen cut-off discs total in the more than 25 years I've had it.

didn't get much time today to work with this, but it does seem to be sturdy for what it is . perhaps the cast base helps... I do see some with a stamped metal base, but so far I am happy with this . how much will it get used? that's to be determined I guess. but since I have an otherwise unusable grinder, I like tools and whatever else, we will see.
My plan is for it to live at the Volunteer warehouse and it can be used for light grinding , etc for anything we want to do there . I will try to remember to update this when it does get used
