I made an impulse buy a few months ago that I mentioned in the Lowes Clearance Thread: a Dewalt DW257 Scrugun. Paid around $50 for it, and have yet to use it.

Anyway, I stopped into Lowes earlier and found a Senco DS-232AC on a table with various other power tools. All were about 50% off, some were marked down from clearance. The screwgun had no bag or accessories but I figured to heck with it. Bought it for $40.50, a bucket of drywall screws for $12.59, and a 2-pack of Phillips bits for $5.03. It doesn't have the wood nosepiece but I found them online for under $7.

Now I just have to get the electrical panel at the project house fixed. I have a feeling that hanging the drywall is gonna be a lot faster now. Any opinions of or info about the Senco Duraspin guns? I've seen some positive remarks on here but didn't find a thread with a site search.

Your Lowe's has a better clearance section than my Lowe's regular section.:)

I did a quick search for the Duraspin guns and it seems that the reviews online range from generally favorable to "I'd sell my wife and my first born to own one".

Btw, there's a cordless Dewalt Scrugun now available (saw it at my local Home Depot), might be worth checking out in the near future.

I have an old B&D got it for 5 bucks, use it once in a great while, but like anything else great to have when you need it.

Fortunately, " my" Lowe's consists of about 7 stores, with another 10 or so occasionally falling under the umbrella. The Dewalt was picked up in Americus and the Senco in Waycross. My local store rarely has many outstanding deals as it's in a military town. The cordless ones may be tempting eventually, but I need to use these first!

Years again we had a cordless senco collated screw gun, it was very good, far better than the Makita we have now.

I was fighting intermittant 2G service in the store and couldn't find reviews and such in a timely manner. All I found were prices and the Senco website; couldn't even see if replacement nosepieces were available or whether the screws are easy to find. Figured I'd take the risk for the price, and I'm glad to hear that the brand is respected.

This and the Dewalt will get some good use in the project house. Otherwise, it will probably go unused for extended periods. As you stated, though, it's good to have when you need one. Time saved is money earned, even for those of us who don't depend on tools for a paycheck.
