Today I was at the store and I bought 4 of these fixtures, they were 19 dollars, but with the hydro quebec discount they came out to 4 dollars. anyways, I was wondering if these 4 will be enough for my 10x20 garage. Also, will the plastic cover affect the lighting? should I leave the cover on or off. thanks

Going to depend on what you are doing in the garage. If you just want to grab a rake and run, probably ok. If you are going to rebuild Swiss watches, probably not so much. And it depends on what you are used to and...as always....money.

For a net cost of $4 each, I'd definitely buy a couple more.

how about the plastic covers? does the light come out as good with the covers on?

From what I've seen, the covers attenuate the like somewhat, but they also diffuse it and cut down on glare. When they get old, some of them yellow and then they really cut down the light significantly. I'd try with and without.

The covers will diffuse the glare and they also keep the lamp and reflector area clean. If you take off the cover you will pickup some lighting output but suggest to leave them in place because if the lamp and reflector get dirty (they will in a garage) that will be worse than having a cover.

Hope that made some sense?
