Ive been regularly buying up most every snap on / mac tool I want over the last year...and yes I have to say im addicted with the purchase of $20k with my snap on truck guy in last 12-14 months.. In the last couple months, ive pretty much run out of things that I feel like I want or could use as I am pretty content with my collection, two large roll around full sizes boxes full etc.

I definitely dont buy useless tools I dont need but I really like having everything to be prepared for any job.I own a hot rod /performance shop in So California and most of my employees constantly need to use stuff out of my boxes etc..

OKOKOK sorry for rambling on, just trying to say how pleased Ive been with owning tools. Very rewarding...

BUT

I ran across the first Snap On product that I completely got excited out and HAD to own. I would have paid much more for it as I really really wanted it when I saw it.

Snap on Chess Set - given to dealers as a reward etc for sales, never offered to public I guess. Most were half gold and silver, but these sets are black and chrome and just look awesome. I grew up a avid chess player because it was my fathers favorite hobby and he loved to play with me anytime I wanted....

Soon as I get I will have this displayed on my desk on my shop. I cant wait.

Here it is if anyone else wants one: (I offered $250 shipped and they accepted):

I wonder what the board dimensions are cuz I think that other set on here was a "regular" size one, not the micro mini.

Correct, the one that sold in the classifieds here a couple of weeks ago was full size, with a wooden board.

When the first set showed here a few months back I mentioned I wanted one. One of the members steered me to a set I picked up for 200 dollars. Mine has the wood board with Chrome and Gold peices.

Cant wait to get it. Been awhile since I actually got excited :)

Thanks for the heads up! I pulled the trigger and did the BIN and got the second one. The seller is none other than the guy that sells a lot of drawer liner and is affiliated with the company that makes the exclusive OEM drawer liner for Snap-On.

These appear to be the same size pieces and the same size mini-tool box as the gold set. The board looks to be metal and is smaller without the border of the wood board.

Looks like the seller has more than a few. After I bought mine, he added one more to the auction and now three have been sold. He may have more, who knows? :bounce:

micro/mini is the tool box. They only made the set in one size. :)

So the pieces are the same size, just the board is different?

I wouldn't mind having either set. I like everything about it, the pieces as well as the shape of the box. If the box is made of metal that would be really cool.

The auction is still active, even after 3 have sold.
Apparently he has more of this VERY RARE chess set.

I really like the look of the metal board better than the wood board..as well as the black pieces instead of gold.

The little tool box is metal and stores all the pieces....

I figure its a good collectible that will hold its value since it seems pretty rare (other than this guy selling them apparently has several he is selling).

Hope it gave some other people here a chance to get one too!

I would guess the gold/wood set is more rare since maybe it was more of a top prize for the best salesman. The silver/black chrome with the metal board may be second place prizes (i.e. gold, silver...) and be a little bit more common, though its the first one I've ever seen.

He did a good job with the auction. When I saw it, there was one of two left. This buffaloed me into BIN. As soon as that happened he put up another and then another.
