Boulders as pavers?

I have a large selection of large rocks. Trying to brainstorm as to what to do with them. Wife asked If they would work as a patio surface next to the garage apron.

Ground is slightly sloping, area would be about 15x15. The rocks are variable sizes, thicknesses. I'm worried about getting them to settle at the same level and what to use for "grout" in between them and underneath them

rocks would be 5-10 square feet, 1 or 2 feet thick

any advice or experiences?

The boulders need to be as close to flat as possible on one side (facing up) and even then they need to have a box-like shape so you can fit them tightly together. Otherwise it will be an exercise in futility.

I have a stone patio in my backyard that was built long before I was even born. It's nice but it has settled over the years and I've had to dig up and re-set some of the stones.

I'd have to massage mine a bit to get more flats on the bottom

If you have uniform material like that bluestone sure. Random stuff? No way.

Use them in your planting beds, to catch runoff, rock garden, waterfall, pond, etc.

Life's too short to use them for a pavement....
