I've seen that before. It is still cool every time I see it. I like the foot release pedal for the jack. All my bottle jacks have the twist screw. I wonder how he modified the jack.

I wonder how easy it is to shatter the ball if you pump the jack too much? I found one in the woods once and dropped it on a rock and it split in half. Seems like they can be fragile.
Take out the screw and maybe use something like a schrader valve? I'm not sure, but I do know its cool..... maybe he made a plunger with a spring and sleeve....

The valves are a needle and seat type arrangement. That set up doesn't look overly complicated, its effectively just lever operation replacing screw operation. I can't see any rocket surgery in there anywhere.
