Box end crowfoot wrench?

Hey all,
I've been hunting around for a box end crowfoot wrench in a 2 1/8" size. I'm not having any luck. I've ran across small torque adapters but they don't seem to get any where near 2 1/8"
Currently we use a 1/2 drive crow foot wrench adapted to a 3/4" drive torque wrench. There are certain spots where the crow foot wrench can't be placed all the way onto a nut. You just have to torque it with just the end of the wrench. It gets a little scary for your teeth when the guy across from you is pushing that torque wrench towards your face and you know it's just maybe three quarters of the way on the nut. I'm looking for something a bit safer.

Final torque of 350 ft/lbs. I've looked at the flare nut wrenches but I'm a bit leery of them. The regular crow foot has a lot of metal on the sides and I worry about it slipping off. I worry that the flare nut would just break.
We use a couple of different backer wrenches. If I recall correctly one is a proto and the other is snap on. Or maybe it's Williams and Proto. Either way one had to be clearanced on the belt sander to fit between the nuts and the pipe. The other fit fine.
Price is for the tool crib guy to figure out. Once you drop the "safety" word the higher ups are more willing to put out. ;)

My other thought was to have our shops broach a female hole in a regular box end wrench. It could be cut about as short as the regular crow foot wrench we are currently using and hopefully then I wouldn't get into the torque compensation issue of the longer torque adapters.
I haven't talked to the shop yet. I thought I would see if there was already a tool out there somewhere that I hadn't run across yet.

Hey thanks for the input! I've had this on the back burner for quite some time because I wasn't really finding anything. Now that the time is closer that I'll be needing them, I need to try and get moving on this little project again. I appreciate the feed back.

I have an old incomplete Britool set but the biggest is only 1 1/16", hard to find over here though. Making one is the way to go.

Hey I know you said you're looking for a box end wrench, but I was looking up some part numbers in a snap on catalog and came across the open-ended crows foot wrenches In 1/2" in comes in 2 1/8" pt#SCO68 shows to have a max working torque of 5000 in/lb so it within your to torque rating.

If not there I would check Wright tool or possibly SK as they tend to carry a lot of the bigger sizes...

Edit I found them
but it's not going to be cheap Snap on sells 12 point box end heads in 2 1/8" rated to 7200 inch pounds.
The head is Part#qzx68adp The handle is Part#qd4in800.
It's a click type, I'm sure it's super expensive but could but It could be useful if you do a lot of these big fasteners.

Wow good find! That's close to what I'm looking for. Because of the location of these fasteners, being able to pivot the the crow foot around the ratchet head is pretty important.
I haven't looked at the handle yet, I'm going to go check that out.

Edit: I didn't understand that the heads themselves had the ratcheting feature. If my regular ratcheting wrenches are similar in design. I think that would make them too fat to fit in the tight space they will be used in.

No not of all the heads have ratcheting features some are fixed box Ends like a wrench. As the part number I gave you is for a fixed box end head.

You could also get an open-ended in 2 1/8" that would fit the same handle and give you more options

I hope one or more of these options will work for you might need two or more to get all different situations to work for your needs..

Lol, yeah I finally realized that I was looking at a different page than the one you linked. I was on some interactive catalog deal. It was kind of a pain in the ***. I should have just stayed on the link you posted.
I'll have to wait until I'm at work tomorrow, but we might already use the torque wrench required for those heads. I know two of the big ones we have are the removable head type. That would save a bunch of money and make some bean counters happy.
Thanks again for the links.

Why not take a 2-1/8 socket and weld a 3/4 drive socket to the side of it as your driver? If you need to keep the drive as close to center of the nut, you could grind away one side of the drive socket so it fit closer to the big one. If you do that, grind where one of the drive flats is closest to the big socket.

Here is a photo from the Home Made Tools thread over on Welding Web:

I'd expect most combo wrenches to be soft enough to broach. If there's issues the alternative would be to EDM the female drive. Either one would be fairly inexpensive, especially if it is considered a safety issue.
