I've had this old tool box sitting in the shop since my dad passed away in 2014. I had never really looked in it but kept it because the stuff on top were things I figured I'd use in my scrap metal art stuff later. I finally started going through it and in the bottom (which I thought was just dirt) were probably 100 or so sockets. They're all various sizes, drives and makers. It appears that the box sat with water in it for a while because they're all rusty with chrome flaking off.

So far, I've soaked them in vinegar and started the process of wire brushing so I can see what I have. None are pretty and mostly CR Vanadium (Taiwan), with some Benchtop, SK and even a couple of MACs.

I would clean them up and keep them just because they were my dads
I am. Just wanted to show the number of misc sockets that were in there. There's a lot of 1/4" drive. I have no idea if he just picked up every one he found and tossed it in there or what.
