Grabbed this box that looked like it was waiting for a scrapper. Maybe I should have let the scrappers have it. It’s pretty beat, sprayed, and a few slides are done.
Haven’t found a number yet. Where should I be looking closer? With the knowledge base here, someone will know.

Thanks guys. Yeah, she’s beat.
A little over 26 wide and like 20 deep.
KR 533. I did some googling on that and yeah, that looks right, chrome and all, but everything I found has more drawers. Mine has just 3.

Looks beat, I will agree......but it may be possible to replace the slides. Just find a donor box in worse condition with decent slides. Could bead blast it and spray bomb any color you want, add some liners to the drawers and have a decent user for at home. Replace the missing lock and it's good for work if you turn wrenches for a living. Could be a nice project for a young up and coming wrencher in junior high who is just starting out. As a kid I would have loved a box like that. Still do even after 40 years....a nice semi restoration project for the crafty mechanic. A lot better than letting someone in china shred it and melt it down for cheap Harbor Freight sheet metal IMO.

You have a 1970s KR531. The badge is missing and someone did a bang up spray job but you can easily cure these two issues. You can also call Snap-On support and get new slides for free.

I'd clean that box up and use it.

Thanks Hippo, Horse, and Galaxie! That’s it.
I’m a home tool guy with only a few garage sale Snappy tools, no truck guy. I’ll give Snappy a call Friday. Maybe they will make a donation to my little 531 project.

First time calling Snappy support. Actually got to a human being pretty quick. Took him a few just to call up the info on a kr 531. They sadly don’t offer any parts for this box. No slides for me. Going to do some googling and see what is out there for 16in modern slides.
Any help on that, jump in.

So they are now denying access to the parts stash for 1970s boxes...urgh.

SnapMom will likely know which modern toolbox models are compatible with your KR531. She helped me run down a set of slides for my early 40s Red Cap that Snap On makes for their newer models.

Shoot, if i picked up that box on the way to scrap, I would clean it up, spray it snappy red, new slides, new badge, and sell it.
