Cant ANY of you Professional mechanics reccommend one of the EXTREME (Chinese) boxes for a home based amatuer mechanic. I dont have garage sq footage and need a bottom/top no longer than 56".

I've been watching Seattle craigslist, but havent found used box that I like drawer configuration.

I have CASH for right box. Just seems that EXTREME offers a lot of sq inches of storage for a good value.......

Oh well guess, I'm talking to wrong crowd here to empathize with my set of values........

Thanks anyway,
Chuck in Seattle

Hey there, go with what you want yourself. Reading this forum and the views are great, but they are other people's views - if you fancy the Extreme then that's what you buy.

I've got its 53" little cousin in Red. I think you'll be happy with the KRL. That second full length drawer is nice for your wrenches.

There is a guy here who got himself a KRL1022, when the time came he needed more space he got the side cabinet for it. Looks almost the same as the KRL1023 now, i also think you can get a little cabinet to extend the top box as well.

Just an option for you to think about.

As for people paying think 6k is to much for a box, i spent a little over 20k with box and Cart. Well worth it and it will do me a LONG time. Its all in what you want to spend your money on, i like Tools and tool box's other would get a lesser box and maybe a car to work on.

I like how people spout off about how bad mac boxes are, even go as far as comparing a macsimizer to a kra. You can't even compare a tech to a kra and they are the same price range. My 2 bank tech can hold way more weight than a kra, it is deeper too, taller also. I weigh 225lbs and can hang off of my top drawer with it fully loaded with tools and fully extended, can you do that with your kra? didn't think so. Maybe you want me to come over and try that on your krl, I bet that is a no also. Snap on makes good tools but their boxes don't even compare to mac or matco.

Just remember, 225lbs plus this

If resale is at all important, green is not a great color. You know, as deals come along, and our boxes get too stuffed, we can all be temped to upgrade. It will be hard to sell a green box. On the other hand, yellow is VERY much in demand these days, and black and blue boxes do better than average as well. Red is the old standard so that will always sell at an average price. About the only thing that does worse than the bright green at resale is the dark green, (from the S-O Anniversary series boxes).

So he knows if his tool is in another person's box at work. In the old west they would hang you for less, ie kinda like stealin' a horse.

Exactly, well sort of like that, there are 4 guys at the shop and 2 toolboxes, needless to say some of my tools get used by the 2 without tools, one of them has a habit of leaving my tools out or putting them in the boss's box. A lot of tools are the same and when I dig through his box to get my tools back I want MY tools back. Also, it is so much easier to find that misplaced tool when there is bright yellow tape wrapped around it. It is not to prevent theft because if they want them they can take the tape off.

It's cool that you take pride In your box and I agree that MAC makes good boxes. On the other hand a KRA2411 compares very closely to your box and actually slightly edges it out in square and cubic inches of space. Rated drawer capacity for the two boxes is Identical. I will admit that the Mac looks a little better and yes you can come hang off the top drawer of my lonely little KRA if its worth the trip to you. We can split a case of beer afterwords.

Those look like the craftsman easy to read sockets? If they are, how are they holding up.
