hello

Been a long a long time reader of this site, and finally its time to start buidling my own garage.

The plan is to build a 2 car garage and ground level. The garage with have a 2 car basement. I want to keep 1 section of the basement (1 car width) for my tools and workbench, and the other section will be for my oldtimer.

On the ground level, we will park our daily runners.

Here's a picture of the front of the garage (pre-build pic of course :D)

At the back of the garage i will install a 4 post car elevator.

This is the car on its platform, ready to go down to the basement

Do you think this is a good idea, to design my garage this way ?
How could i make sure the "hole" of the elevator is water proof so i dont get water into the basement ?

Already thanks for your opinions

Greetings

Filip

i had this design in the first place. Problem is to get the car off the elevator, so it can go back to ground level, where i can park a daily runner.

I would need to get the car off the elevator sideways. Now i can "drive" the car off the ramp

why would you not enclose the third space for the elevator so you will have it protected from the weather as well as the added parking space

what about going 2 story high and installing lifts that you can park the daily runner under and use it as a service lift as well. whould this not be cheaper?

we reached our maximum building capacity above ground as its drawn. pretty poor, since its hardly enough for 2 cars.

Thats why i plan to build the workplace in the basement since i may not build a bigger garage.

i've seen the movie from the aclifts website. Sure looks nice !

But this would be too expensive. I've been asking quite some princings from similar solutions, but they are all too expensive.

I think using a 4 post lift could be a budget friendly solutions. I only need to modify the ramps so there is 1 big platform to drive on.

don't know if you have room, but have the drive around back where the lift is go on a down slope such that when it reaches the back it is at basement level...and then just drive in.
