That's zero VOC
Maybe that's all that's legal in your area, but in my experience the zero VOC version doesn't clean as well

While there are VOC differences, I think you are talking about chlorinated vs non-chlorinated. It use to be the red bottle was the chlorinated "good stuff," but I see AdvanceAuto has non-chlorinated in red, and the green was non-chlorinated.

chlorinated is also non-flammable, where as non-chlorinated is.

No, I'm aware of at least 5 different blends of brake cleaner from CRC and I most certainly was not referring to chlorinated vs non chlorinated.

They have chlorinated and non chlorinated, they have Low VOC, NO VOC, SCAQMD compliant, 50 state compliant, certified non flammable, etc.

It goes further than just red or green can. You need to read the actual label.

Brake cleaner is going the way of automotive paints and wood stains--better for the environment and less capable of doing their job.

Flammable, Chlorinated, How ever if you are using in a heated shop or near a running car you do not want Chlorinated it gives off toxic gases when it burns..
The Flammable type is also good for finding out if the car won't start because of lack of fuel and testing O2 sensors to see if they go rich........................................

So the most dangerous, the most toxic and the most polluting one is the most effective?

Not always, but there's a strong correlation with many, many things.

But look at water based paint on cars of the 90's and 2000's. It was a "green" change, and left every dodge and Chevy with peeling paint.

Look at any water based or oil "immersion" decking stain, vs the old achooo high voc oil based stuff.

The very best pesticides in the world are banned in the USA. Why? Too effective.

Don't get me wrong--I'm not for trashing the environment. I'm simply stating that low voc brake cleaner is a hot topic in the shop's I deal with, as it ain't as effective. Ymmv.

I use the W7341 from Advance Auto. They had a special locally for $1.99 a can in December. One of the guys I know ordered a pallet and split it between his two shops.

The 23 oz can in the original post is the red can. It is the good ****. $3.50 a can is a good price. Buy a case of 12 and pick up at your store.
Be happy. No need for head spinning.

And THANK YOU OP.

I wanted to buy two cans and I have a $5 reward at Napa. But Napa won't allow me to apply the reward. What's the trick here? Not very familiar with its system.

OK. Figured it out. The reward has to be used when total is more than $10. I found another place where each bottle is $3. So in the end this is the order

I need some brake clean and I started looking around and found this

23 oz for $3.5. Also Napa has 15% off now. Sounds too good to be true. Am I missing anything? Need help. Thanks!

The regular cans in AutoZone have around 14 oz inside.

This is supposed to be a monthly special. Does anyone know how long that's good for?
When does the sale start, at the first of the month? Thank you.

"IF" you want the best (strongest) product, just look for the most amount of hazardous warnings on the can.……. Even better, look for the most widely state banned product and buy where you can out of state.

BTW! I buy a case of "banned in NJ" chemicals like brake cleaner when I go out state and bring it home.

The 23 oz. can seems to be a regional thing and not 50 state compliant. I placed an order and the store called to tell me he couldn't get it. Good deal if you can get your hands on it.

You are right. Mine is cancelled as well. It's not legal in CA. The website is not good!

My local NAPA commonly runs brakeclean specials (CRC, House brand, 3M....) in some kind of rotation. I just buy a case when I need it and start watching for sales when I get to less than 6 cans. It's good to have a NAPA guy!

You may want to stockpile the red can stuff. It will go the way of the Dodo bird and the good carb cleaner.

It's around $28 a case on my account at Schucks.

If you guys work on stuff often, look at opening an account.

I bought an engine stand the other day. Counter price was $280. My price was $225.

This same stuff was also $3.50 at my local autozone. I was in there returning some rented tools and picked up 4 cans.

I ordered 10 cans Thursday or Friday said it was being processed got canceled today I called the store, they said they don't have it.
She said none of the other stores do either. She said I would have to buy a full display which she thinks is 75 cans or something like that so much for that.
