This is the tool I use on my VW's, I don't know what you're working on, but I used it on my dad's Blazer to open up the calipers. It's the first tool listed on that page.

^^^ I use channel locks and I open up the bleeder like you are supposed to. Now, if the bleeder is stuck, I just use the channel locks.
A lot of the times you can use a screw driver or a pry bar and slide the caliper over instead before you remove it.

Most rotors are made in China and make sure you spray the coating of the new rotors to prevent rusting with brake clean.Inspect the fins if they are rusted out.If they are,pitch them and you want to do it right the first time.

I have new pads and rotors. Care will turn 250,000 miles this week, and the wife tends to warp rotors, and the early 2000's Impalas are notorious for warping anyhow. It wasn't that thread mentioned above. I think the guy does brake jobs at his work for fleet mainteance, maybe squad cars? It was a pretty good write up on checking for runout etc. Other things that are often overlooked were mentioned also. Probably was in Free Parking. Wondered why I couldn't find it. Weird that search doesn't work there.
