Brake Lathe Van Norman 304

I have a Van Norman 304 super heavy duty brake lathe for sale. It only turns drums, and is a 3 phase machine. It is an extremely high quality machine, complete with several different arbors and a lot of cones/adapters. I am asking $750 for it. The arbors alone are worth that, but I need this thing gone, as i have no use for it. Great deal for someone out there.

what school are you going to? I went to McPherson College and I am also from Maryland. I live just north of winchester VA on the WV/VA border.

McPherson College as well, I came out here for the auto restoration program. Do you have pictures of the brake lathe and the arbors/adaptors?

what year did you graduate? I graduated in '07. I learned a lot there. Yea i have some pics i tried to post them here but it would not let me for some reason. I have to warn you that i have a deal cooking here that i am pretty sure is gonna happen, but if not i will let you know. by the way it is not a 3 phase machine, it is single phase. And i was informed yesterday that the grinder is for taking hot spots out of drums, as the carbide cutter will just skip right over them because they are too hard.

I am still here, i'm actually sitting in Metzler dorm right now. Set to gradute in 2013. If your current deal falls through I would like second stab at it. I would not be able to pick it up immediately, but I can place a deposit etc. if that would be possible.

Yea man for sure. I will definitely let you know, and a deposit would be fine. Where in MD are you from? I am from silver spring. Dude, I know the culture shock you must have went thru when you got there, but honestly i miss it a bit. Wouldn't want to live there again nessecarily, but i do miss driving around the country looking for old cars. Roger, Garrick, and Luke are good teachers (Roger is my hero, love that guy). Have you had Dove yet?

I am from eastern shore maryland, about a block from Delaware. picture the 90* corner in the bottom left of Delaware, thats where i'm from. Wasent too much of a culture shock really, as the town i'm from is much smaller than McPherson. But, at home I also live only a few miles from a fair sized city so I have the best of both worlds in a way. Roger is likely my favorite as well haha. I actually had Dove for my very first auto class my freshman year for upholstery. Sadly Luke left last year, but luckily I had him for drivetrain and chassis first. His wife became a doctor and accepted a job in Nebraska. He is managing a parts store there now.

Wow, Luke left huh? Well that *****. I miss it there right now, one of these days i am gonna make it back for the show in may, it is just so far, but my wife is from Mac so we may do it one day. Well I am gonna call this guy that is interested in the brake lathe tomorrow, and if we cant work a deal, I will let you know, and we can work something out. I'll be flexible since you are a fellow auto rat.

It is quite a drive thats for sure. But yea Luke didnt want to leave but his wife was offered a very a good job as a doctor so they went ahead and took the offer. I have a guy I know that may have use for this brake lathe. I was going to get it and help transport it to him etc. so I will try and get ahold of him and see what he has to say.
