I have two different AMMCO brake shoe grinders. One is a model 880 and the other is a model 2000
These were used back in the day to grind brake shoes to match the arc of brake drums that had been turned /resurfaced. Doing so ensured complete contact of the shoe to drum. The unit is in good condition and works fine.
The Arcing or Grinding the shoes is a must do on most on pre 60's cars to ensure factory braking performance. Not doing so can have a drastic impact on brake performance. The procedure went by the way side as brake designs improved and the asbestos issue surfaced. If you are restoring a pre 50's-60's vehicle it is getting almost impossible to find shops with this piece of equipment.
Recent sales on Ebay are in the 500-1000 region with the higher priced unit being repainted. I am asking 375 for the units themselves. Both units have manuals
This model 880 is on a roll around toolbox. It has a small shop vac inside the cabinet hooked up to the grinders exhaust to limit the dust created when using it. If the buyer would like the cabinet / vacuum with it, I am asking an additional 250 which includes the cabinet, vacuum and accessories or about ½ of what I paid for them.
Both are working units. They would also make a nice conversation piece for a automotive man cave or museum.
I may ship with pre payment but it will be $$ due to size & weight. Machines alone are ~105 lbs. Prefer local pick up or possibly meeting not too far away
I am open to REASONABLE offers.
