Good evening guys, my wife, son and I are having a house built in northern Indiana, it’s super exciting and going well!! They just got started a couple weeks ago.. anyways they poured the basement floor 8 days ago. It’s been upper 70’s and 80’s since they poured. Last night and today it was in the 50’s and rained.. the basement slab now has 2 pretty good cracks in it. 1 runs from the backside wall to the front sidewall at the closest points. They did not relief cut the basement, which from some googling is 50/50 if builders do that.. I didn’t get any pictures but I sure can.. I was just wondering if this is normal or if this is pretty early for it to be cracking.. i was mainly concerned with water tightness of the basement.. I have not talked to the builder yet, wasn’t sure if I was concerned for no reason. Please let me know if you need more information..
Couple other things I thought of. It has small rock under it with vapor barrier and wire mesh. Also has a couple deeper pockets of concrete with rebar in the areas of the load bearing walls..
thank you guys for any information!!!
