Hey All,
Just acquired an old Branick Strut Spring compressor to use in my garage. Gone are the days of me using the 2 or 3 threaded screw clamps. I was researching the clamshell compressors and fell into this one. The OTC 6494 is similar but is about $170. I picked this one up for $30. I'm guessing it's about 30 years old or so. It is solid with no welds at all, all the arms are a single piece of us made steel. It cleaned up real well and has no fractures or bends and center screw shows no sign of wear. This Branick one however does not have the clevis pins to hold the tool on the coil and I'd like to add that feature. I know the clevis pins on the OTC are 1 3/4 long but not sure what size pin to use. I was thinking 1/4 or 3/4. Does anyone have a clamshell tool with the clevis pins who can tell me what size of pins are used? I added a few pics.
Thanks All,

I have the OTC. Beats the separate compressors which could fail in a bad way. The wall mounted Branick was too much for my needs.

The pins on the OTC I bought last year are 5/16".
Thanks bunches for the information that's exactly what I needed.
Just want a little extra safety feature on it. Not worried about messing up a "vintage" tool, just worried about keeping my face! LOL

I was going to buy an OTC but saw this and it looks more solid. Also saved me about $140.
Thanks All...
