Any update with regards to the hammer??

No updates Bob, I need to do something. Son and I both are building AR's and I'd like a really nice brass hammer for the gunsmithing side of things. I'll keep it in the basement with the reloading gear. It won't get used in the machine shop - unless I buy 2.

Another option....Lyman. It has interchangeable heads: one steel, one plastic, one brass

Midway Product #: 192310

or just bite the bullet and get the Grace.....

How about Wheeler Engineering http://www.btibrands.com/product/nylon-brass-hammer/

I have 2 Grace hammers that never leave my gunsmith bench and I like them. I also have a few brass hammers that I made myself.

Yeah thanks, I have a couple of those brass / nylon Wheeler equivalents, not impressed. I think I might need to make my own.

Yes, I know, I'm being a tool snob. I like a tool that feels good in my hand. That "feels good" is very subjective to each user.

I must have 5 hammers that would help me build an AR or set something up in the mill. I'd just like to have a "nice" hammer to build a "nice" weapon with.

I've got a pair of Grace BH-8. The head to hammer fit doesn't look good but there is a brass pin going thru it. I expect the handle would break before the head came off. Their small hammers so likely to never beat it that hard. They work fine on my ar-15s.

garland makes replaceable face hammers in the USA.
inserts made of copper, lead, plastic, rawhide, rubber

LOL, I've got a rawhide hammer from them I've had for thirty years. I used it when I was chiseling mortises in logs and beams on a regular basis while building log homes. Great hammers and mallets.

I just today found my corner chisel that I used back then.
