I've been lurking and drooling on this site for about a year and wanted to thank everyone for sharing their builds. Finally got around to pulling the trigger on my own shop. After several sketches and finally settling on a third building site (cleared trees on one other) I set out to get builder quotes. That was going nowhere after getting 4 quotes. The I decided to order a bolt-up and went to talk to a concrete guy I know. He said he knew a contractor that would do it all for a fair price. Decided to give it one last shot and sure enough this contractor came back with a fair price. Started the building on 8/24 and finished on 9/9. Couldn't be happier with the outcome! Nice to find a great contractor!

First the tree clearing...by hand! Then forms and sand.

Site cleared, stumps pushed and forms set!

The building is 30x50x12 with a 4:12 roof and a 12x10ft insulated sectional door. The windows are 2x3 insulated. The roof is galvulume and the walls are Hunter green with a Burnished Slate trim.

Slab poured 4" with perimeter and interior beams using 3500 psi concrete.

Watered it to cure for 7 days and then the contractor had steel delivered.

Contractor started building on Labor Day and had most of it standing on day 2!

By day 9 all the siding was done and trim and gutters were being done while a crew blew in 1 inch of closed cell foam insulation. All done by 12pm on day 9!

I had extra purlins set at the floor and 4ft to attach U-Panel wainscotting. I plan to go reclaimed plank flooring from there up...we'll see how the search goes for salvaged wood.

Looking at putting in eight T5 hi-bays for lighting. The build went fast, I'm going to take my time on the finish out.

Thats awsome, Im in the process of putting up a Mueller bolt together....42'x50'x16'. I'm doing it myself, so progress is slow. I look forward to getting to the point you are at! woodweasel

Looking good. I hope you are on the high side of that river. It's been a while since it went a mile out of its banks but eventually will again. Keep the updates coming

I sprayed one inch of closed cell foam on my metal roof, then pointed Horrible Freights infrared thermometer at the foamed panel and the not yet foamed panel next to it. I was surprised to see that the foam was holding the heat and was actually hotter than the bare metal roofing. You may want to check that and go up to 3 inches 0f foam

nice work. who supplied the building?

jim

Thanks guys! The metal was supplied by Hensens in Cresson, TX. The panels are Central States Mfg. Tom Brown Construction in Granbury built it and did an outstanding job!

I had that discussion with the insulation contractor and I was willing to add more insulation. He told me that if I was not going to air condition the space that it would be a waste of money. I guess time will tell, so far it has been cooler inside than it is outside and we have seen 100 degrees since it was done.

$36,700 including insulation. I'm doing the electrical myself and anticipating getting power to the building, lighting and outlets done for around $3k.
