Breaker failure

Today, for the second time in a couple of months, I popped a circuit breaker and could not get it to reset. It wouldn't flip off after being tripped. Wound up replacing the breaker, not a huge deal, but what gives? I had this happen on a different circuit in a whole different box just a short while ago...and cannot ever remember having this happen in many decades over multiple houses. They've been Square D tandem breakers, if that matters.

They can go bad. Seems weird that there were two so close together time wise. Depending on how bored or annoyed I was, I might just replace the rest of the tandems in the panel.
