Breaking Bad/Impact Driver question...

So I'm late to the party on this show; it's fast becoming one of my favorites. Last night I saw the fifth season episode where they destroy the lap top in the police station's evidence room. To do so, Mike gets them in. He's been my favorite character since he first appeared, and in the scene below he's using what looks like a less powerful cousin of the manual impact driver. Now I want one! Can someone identify this tool? I realize it's hard to see, but maybe somebody knows the brand...

Check it out, 30 seconds in. Shouldn't watch much further if you don't want spoilers...

Yankee Driver, used to be popular before cordless tools or there was elecricity for corded tools on job sites. Ellwood Blues used one in the Blues Brothers moving when they were in the elevator near the end.

IIRC, Jake and Elwood used one to help disable the elevator at the end of movie. I had one when I was a kid. I don't think I miss it. It seems like there are limited applications where it would work well.

Thanks for the tip, Chris. Don't exactly see this as anything other than a novelty buy, but I gotta have it. It'll sit in my box at home indefinitely, I suspect. Unless I can figure out a way to become hit man/body guard for any high level drug lords. Finished out the season today and while it really ***** (Mike...), they've really got it boiling. Hope they can keep up the intensity through the last few episodes.

It seems like there are limited applications where it would work well.

Guess you've never broken into any police stations?

Yankee Driver. They sell a German made one at the Sears around hear. Quick if you know how to use it.I have 2, one a Stanley with a wooden handle and a Dunlap (German) one. Dunlap one came with drill bits for metal. I've heard of old time carpenters using them before drills where invented.

Yep small Yankee driver (Most are much longer/bigger), I have at least a half dozen of the Stanley versions and some more that are just drills, from different companies.

I used to install draperies when I was in High school and we used those a lot for both drilling holes and quickly screwing in the drapery rod hangers. This was well before battery drills came about and were popular. They don't usually take the std 1/4" hex drive used today, but you used to be able to get an adapter for them (Not sure if those are still available)

It's a rare week I don't see one or more at a yard sale, But I've stopped buying them unless its something very unusual. You can get them like the one in your film clip and also in just a ratchet mode without the push/pull action, but those are more rare from Yankee, (Common on the SO truck though)

Properly maintained (Yes they need oiled occasionally) they do work great. And best of all, never need recharging!
