I was hoping to get a little help

I'm needed to sand my floor because its been several weeks between the last coat and the top coat.

I went around the edges with a palm sander and might have ended up breathing a good amount of dust. Any harm done?

I need to do the larger area and was gonna rent a floor buffer and screen. Does that work ok?

I had to fix a few areas and ended up coating new epoxy over a small area of already cure old stuff without sanding it first. Will this lift eventually?
Should I grind it off and start over?

Thanks!

How big is your garage, you probably just can get away with a little 60 grit paper on an orbital palm sander - most of which have a vac, and dust bag built in. IF your super concerned, remove the bag, and attach a vac to it. You dont need to get it super perfect, just scuffed up enough for another layer to bite in. I'd be careful though with a rental sander, as its probably going to be really aggressive, and remove most of your coating.

If you're concerned about lifting on some areas, I'd just regrind, and not bother to sand.... solve both problems in 1 step. Chalk up the extra expense to a learning curve....

Be sure to solvent wipe between coats. It will remove the super-fine dust in the scratches you created with the sander. Denatured alcohol on a lint free rag/towel.

I did mine with a palm sander and 60 grit. I have a 3 car garage and it didn't take long at all. My suggestion get some good masks not the paper ones. N95 are good and change the sand paper frequently. The epoxy dulls the paper quickly.
I had to sand mine r/t out gassing so i had more sanding. lol
