Hey everybody I been lurking for a while so i will now start to document my projects around my place. I bought my house before i got out of the navy. We have been here since 2008. Things are going well have done alot to the house and am now finally getting the garage up to par.
The Garage will be needing the following
- Roof, Will be installing metal roofing it has been leaking around my chimney
-Man door or at least fixing the rotten jambs
-Paint interior and exterior
-I need to figure out what kind of heating source i want to upgrade to. Currently i have a pot belly type wood stove but it is cracked and needs to be replaced.
The Bottom garage door panel was pretty rotten. I been thinking about getting materials and redoing the bottom portion, but i don't have all the tools. I saw a bunch of garage door panels laying in some guys yard. Stopped to talk to him and he said i could have them as long as i hauled all of them away. He replaced them 2 doors because the bottom was rotted out.
I got them home, hosed the crud off of them and took them into the garage. I started by taking off the bottom panel. But then realized it would be tricky to get the new bottom (which was the old guys top panel) in place. So took all the panels out and started from scratch. I used the top panel inside out, and then for the rest i used the glass panels. i think it looks good with all the glass. but kinda funky with the solid bottom panel. Ive come to the conclusion that the glass will not be very efficient for the winter time but i am not in there all that much.
The finished product. I still need to tweak the adjustments and get the top panel to sit flush against the inside. Also i have extension springs and need to lengthen (adjust or get longer) the cable, and put safety cable through the springs in case of a broken spring.
