I am building a new garage and I am trying to decide on the siding. Does any one know an approxamate price per square foot for brick siding and vinyl siding to help me decide before getting qoutes. I am thinking about bricking the front or half of the front then using vinyl. Thanks Dave

How big is your garage going to be? I have about 1500 in my half brick front and about 2500 in my siding but it's hardi-plank. Should be half that for vinyl I would think. My garage is 24 x 26 w/ 12' ceilings, prices include labor.

What are the specifics for hardi-plank siding, is it something you have to paint? I'm looking at doing the siding on my project myself also.

Edit: Nevermind, I just saw the other thread on this issue. I still might go with this though, seems more like wood and if it's only a every 10-year paint-job I can deal with that.

Check out Structure Siding by ALCOA.. It comes in a wide profile like Hardie but its insulated with DOW Foam so it has a R3.8 and reduces noise.

We did on a buddies garage. He has noticed savings on heating and cooling and less noise from air tools.

Hardie will need paint and there is alot of install related problems that are starting to surface.

Vinyl typically ranges from $50-$140 per square(100sq ft) depending on quality.

Just ordered my siding... Certainteed vinyl, double 4, mid-range quality. $66 @ square. I'll need 12 square plus all the accesories. Just under $1000. I supply the labor...

Currently building a 3-car with hardi-plank siding. This stuff beats vinyl siding hands down! Very happy with it. It is very attractive (looks like wood), and is primed so one coat of good paint will do the job. Will post pics later.
