Bridge Jacks for a Bendpak HD9 Lift

I just purchased a used Bendpak HD9 lift from a guy down the road from me. I'm looking at bridge jacks, but the prices are insane. The Bendpak RJ45 lift costs almost as much as I paid for the lift. Are any of you using other brand bridge jacks with your Bendpak lifts? Katool has the KT-RJ70 for $1149 and Daytona has the RAJ5 for about $1100. I don't know enough about lifts to know if there is a compatibility issue, so I'm hoping some of you can help educate me.

There are a few threads on this subject that are worth searching for. The KaTool jacks are priced nicely. I personally recommend a rolling jack rather than sliding and I like air hydraulic for its compactness and you need a compressor anyway for the HD-9.

I have the Bendpak jacks, bought long ago when they were $1150 each. My only complaint is the arms do not reach the rocker panel jack points of some cars. This is not a problem for cars with factory jack points located more onboard. Apparently some non-Bendpak jacks reach further.

Definitely make sure what you buy is compatible in terms of adjustable with base to fit the HD-9 Barrie and wide settings (if your version has both settings for the dummy runner like my HD-9XW), has rollers that will fit the Bendpak lift, and ends up providing the drive over clearance your cars need when fully lowered (a really low car may scrape).

Many of the rolling jacks are adjustable in runway width, and I don't know that I've seen a sliding jack that isn't adjustable for runway width.

I would not assume that. The fit of the wheels to the channels they ride on may differ and the clearance depth of the jack to the floor and the clearance height above the runners may differ. I did read here of one member who changed the wheels or did some similar modification to make a jack fit a lift.

No. There are many 4 post lifts that won't accept a rolling bridge jack; most often the lighter duty 8K rated lifts that don't have the return flange necessary for the rollers to ride upon.

Had the BP jack as well, which was ajustable as to width, which I would think most are, but he key as said in other posts is that the lift and the the jack share the same inner runner that can accept a jack. Well, I ended up ordering a RJ45 from Lowes. Got 10% off and used their credit card for 6 months zero interest. I had previously ordered the wheels the same way. Stupid expensive for a jack, but nobody here or on FB has said they regretted getting the RJ45.

Minutes after I placed my order someone on FB said their brother had a Katool jack that works with their HD9 lift. It would be nice if we could confirm that for others.

I have a RJ45 on my Bend Pak 7,000 lift. I find it invaluable. A four post lift has its advantages and disadvantages, one of the disadvantages is that it is difficult to remove wheels and tires without a bridge jack. With the jack you can raise one end, block it up using jack stands or large wood blocks then roll the bridge jack to the opposite end of the vehicle and raise it, the bridge jack has mechanical lock system so there is no chance of the vehicle falling. I would not own a four post without a bridge jack.

Or, to look at it in the opposite direction, you got a killer deal on the lift.

I have a Bend Pak as well, and have often considered getting a jack. Looking at some of the welds on them and materials used to build them, I assume many folks could do a similar build quality in a home shop?
This may be a dumb question, but has anyone ever built their own bridge jack?

I also have a RJ 45 , had it for 22yrs now and only 1 issue had to replace the pump. I had a home built one and never trusted it , since I work on a lot or corvettes , I never trusted it , even if it was built by me .

My BP RJ 7's didn't come in a pretty wooden BP box like yours 15 years ago.
Both only came on ugly plastic wrapped pallets.

Hahaha, same, mine came on a poorly wrapped wooden pallet. Love the jack, but had issues when I got it. The wheels were seized from the paint they applied. Took a lot of work to get them freed up so the jack would roll. And the foot pedal was broken. They replaced it no problem. But begs the question: why a foot pedal?

Expensive when I got it but looks like it’s gone up even higher!

Benkpak offers a kit that includes some extensions and pads that make the jack much more versatile. It isn't cheap but well worth it.

This one came with two sets of height extensions - roughly 3" and 6", as well as two pads for lifting. What comes with the kit?
