Bridgeport mill model deciphering

I've been given the chance to purchase a used bridgeport. Before getting too involved with setting up the purchase I would like to research the mill a little. I've searched the model number on the web but it seems to just result in very broad information on bridgeport mills in general. This is the ID tag in the photo. Any help narrowing down the specifics from the info on the tag?

That is the ID tag for the motor, that's all.

Ah, that may be my issue. I had the seller send the photo, apparently there must be another one. Thank you very much.

Round ram would be an M head.
A dovetail ram would be a J head.
A J head machine where you change the spindle speed by moving the belt is 1J.
A J head that is variable speed is a 2J.

That’s pretty much the basics.

I have seen a few early J heads with a round ram. Based off the horsepower rating, that should a J step pulley mill. It could have either the round ram or the more likely dovetail.

M heads were 1/2 hp, J step pulley 1 hp and variable speed J heads were 1.5 hp. Later the variable speed went to 2 hp but I'm not sure if the step pulley models increased as well.

Edit: early 1J heads had a top speed around 2700 rpm.

SN can be found on top of the knee. You have to crank the y table adjustment almost all the way in to reveal it.
