bridgeport tooling - what's it worth?

I have some end mill I'd like to sell. Just over 100 to be exact. I don't think there is a duplicate in the whole bunch. I have a wide variety including double sided cutters, woodruff cutters, maybe a few countersink bits, ...you name it. They are all sharp and in pretty good condition. Most have only been used once or twice.

The issue I'm having is I have no clue as to what this stuff is worth. I'm selling my Bridgeport to a co-worker and he doesn't need the tooling. We are able to buy tooling from work for dirt cheap.

Used tooling is worth a fraction of new. At all depends on what size the person needs and how good the cutter is.
You will ge the most selling individual......but it's the most work

With that said....I would buy them for the right price

Tooling is one of those funny things, it is the most expensive part of owning and operating machine tools, but it is about worthless selling.

With all the tooling thrown in a box like that, sadly is is almost worthless (at least compared to new). People want fresh good cutting edges, they don't want banged up, burred tools. Seeing all the unprotected cutting edges banging together makes me cringe.

Bulk you may be able to get a dollar or two a piece. Selling individually you may get ~$5 for your average end mills. If you connect with the right buyer you may be able to get $20-$30 for some of the more special stuff. However, it will take a long time and as rsanster pointed out it is a lot of work. EBay is your friend, but they take a huge cut if your not a power seller.

No to be a jab at you. But when I see tooling tossed In a box like that, you can't even give it to me. I think your best bet might be find one of those guys that sells tools at a swap meet and cut a deal.

Yea the worst thing I can see as a buyer is my new to me end mill came out of that box. I've been there buying tooling that came in needing sharpening.

I buy boxed lots like that of cutting tools and drills pretty regularly, beats buying Chinese tooling. I wouldn't spend more than $20 and am usually ~$10.

I buy used cutters like that, $1 or $2 each. That's the going rate. Big box tossed together like that, $25-$30 would be my high dollar mark. One nick in an end mill, and its in need of a resharpen, without the right fixture, it would cost almost as much as new quality end mill

What everyone said... Tools that are dull are worthless. Tools that are dinged and chipped are not too good even if sharp. Good used tooling is fairly inexpensive

Generally if it's under 1/2" it's cheaper to buy new than sharpen. Larger ones aren't worth much because of the sharpening cost. The more flutes the harder it is to sharpen.
A machinist who needs to get ultra precision finishes on intricate parts will retire tooling that's costs are built into the projects however diy'er can get good use out of such tooling for less demanding performance. I'll pay a buck or two for nice looking stuff or like others, 25 to 50₵ ea. in bulk but like drill bits, there's a limit to how many you want to keep on hand.

I paid $50 for these, about 90 pieces and 15 new unused ones. They were tossed loose into a tool box tray but hadn't been moved around much otherwise. Got em from the source when the shop was closing out.
