Briggs and Stratton Specs

I am rebuilding a Briggs and Stratton 08p502-0063-F1 engine and can’t find the measurements and torque values anywhere. Please help. Thanks

We’re gonna need a little more information than that!! Measurements of what? Torque values of what components? The Head? The case? Kniflin pins?

You’ll get all the info you need here for sure, but you’ll have to be more specific as to what you need!

Simply plugging the part number 08p502-0063-F1 into Google comes up with multiple locations that have parts diagrams, I didn't find any service manual info with torque specs or bearing clearances, but I only looked for a minute. If you google the number and dig deeper you may find something. Alternately, if there are any small engine repair shops in your area, you could visit them - if you ask nicely they may let you look at their manuals.

Have you looked on the B&S website ? Last time I needed something they had all of their service manuals available there for free ??

HERE is the partstree.com page showing exploded-view diagrams of your engine.

Not sure what you mean when you ask for "Measurements" - what are you wanting to "measure"?

Spark plug gap, magneto air gap, and valve lash you should be able to find online - none of my repair manuals cover those newer engines.

Torque specs you should be able to find online as well.

Archive.org does have some manuals available, but the B&S manuals are huge volumes and may not be there.

It's a Briggs!.....not a 2000hp, turbo, nitrous injected, smallblock. I figure about 3 ugga duggas is just about right. Or if you're not an experienced listener maybe just tighten manually to about good-n-tight.

^ He's working on a later OHV model - the "ugga dugga" thing isn't really advised. That's why I blew $60 bucks on a clicky-inch-pound torque wrench.
