Anybody here a regular visitor to the Brimfield flea market? It's next week and I am thinking of going during the week and checking for old tools. Mostly woodworking stuff but other items like mechanic and blacksmithing tools would be cool too. Any advice for a first-timer (other than the usual "get out of my way!")?

I haven't been in years.
Bring a folding stool and a wagon if you plan on buying a lot of stuff. Your legs will give out long before you get to the end. Remember to hydrate, people drop like rocks all the time there, especially at the July show. Good hunting.

Never made it to Brimfield while living in New England. There is a similarly large flea market called Elephant's Trunk in Ct. Google it if you want directions. I got some old tools there before.

I've been to Round Top in Texas and Brimfield is the king! Went twice last year.

You will not be disappointed.

Opening day (Tuesday) is good. May's field opening on Thursday is the best.

I grew up in Brimfield and have been going ever since I was a little kid. Everyone says Mays and J&J's are the best, they open Thursday and Friday respectively. Honestly, don't feel like you're missing out if you don't go to those two. Both charge admission until the afternoon the day they open, so at least wait to get in for free. Since they have "the best stuff" the prices tend to be higher there, and I usually don't find as many tools in those fields anyways. If you wait until later in the week, dealers will be more likely to haggle and drop prices than earlier. Other than that, bring a cart or a wagon, lots of cash and have fun. Oh and don't cross the road without looking like 99% of the people there do.
