I like browsing CL for cool cars and I know others do too.

Would there be any interest from the Mods in adding a Bring a Trailer type thread, where we could post links from ads on cool collector cars & trucks?

I think it would have to be modded pretty heavily, to delete expired ads.

And there would have to be standards as to what a 'collector/special interest' car is. It's a subjective judgment, and I think you'd have to allow posts to discuss the cars.

If it was me, I would put it in Free Parking, not the classifieds. Not a sticky, the thread would have to live or die on it's own.

I think it would be pretty interesting.

Thoughts?

I guess I could just start a thread and see what happens....

It would not be limited to Bring a Trailer links.

If somebody finds something interesting on CL in Michigan, or AutoTrader in Las Vegas, or the classifieds in Tupelo, they post a description, maybe a picture, and a link.

To prevent people from just posting links, I think there would have to be rules enforced.

Items must be special interest or collectors cars, trucks, tractors, etc.

Each poster must include what the item is, a location, and a price (if available). Also, must include a brief description (copy/paste is ok) and a picture.

A screen shot, followed by the actual link, would be great.

And it would have to be modded, and posts that are just links would be deleted.

I'll do an example below....

Rethinking...

I think it would be better to make this it's own sub-forum, under the 'Classifieds' along with the Classifieds and Hot Deals.

There would be a sticky at the top stating the rules, and saying what postings would be deleted. A thread would be made for each find. Members could make postings and comments on each thread.

Couldn't call it Bring a Trailer, we'd have to come up with a new name.

That's for tools, I thought. I don't look for cool cars there.

You sir ****! Let me explain. I've been looking for a '61-'63 Ford F100 Unibody and Denver seems to be the center of the Universe when it comes to rot free old trucks. I have found more CL listings for F100's than anywhere else in the country (and yes, I've been searching everywhere) with the exception of SoCal.

So tell me is there some magical rust inhibitor in the air out there? What's your secret?

That's funny, I've been looking at Unibodys myself. I should have taken a picture of the one I found on the street the other day. Completely stock & original, faded original paint, just pristine. Custom Cab, has the SS trim around the big back window.

When I get on a computer I know how to use, I'll take a screen shot of it on Google Maps Streetview. I don't want to give out the address here, as I'd like to see if he'll sell it to me 1st. :)

I think New Mexico and Arizona trucks have even less rust than us. Growing up here, they never salted the roads, just sand* (*They call it sand: it's pea gravel, and the windshields show it).

They have started now with mag chrolide, I'm not sure what what the end results of that will be on cars.

Trucks still rust here in the problem places, but bad frame rust in pretty rare.

I know there's guys on this board from the rust belt that would drool over some of the cool cars and trucks that are available in better parts of the country. A certain Mod I'm thinking of ;) keeps looking at cool cars in the wrong part of the country, and keeps finding rust is an issue.

A sub-forum like I'm proposing would be a cool thing I think, but there doesn't seem to be much interest. Oh well.
