"Bringing the garage into the house" I'm not talking about the time before marriage that I rebuilt a Honda 250R in my dining room over the winter. This is different. I am almost finished with a new addition on the house. It is just one big room 13 x 27 that has an entrance from the living room and direct access to the garage. This addition is where I put my office etc.

I had some 72" x 30" stainless steel tops off of some Extreme Tools roller cabinets and made desks out of them. I also left the floor concrete. I just buffed it and put a glossy clear coat on it to help keep that "garage feel"

I would really like to see some other things people have done to "bring the garage into the house"

Global, I have a similar project thats going to take shape over the winter. I'll have to shoot some "before" pics. I have a family room/hangout in my basement that hasn't been upgraded since the owners finished it in the 60's. My design goals are to bring that "hot rod shop/garage hangout" feel to that area. I also have a full bath that attaches to it and I intend to bring the theme though into the bathroom as well. Things like using an old side mount box for an endtable, old nostalgia sign decor, old parts, wheels, etc, etc... its hard to describe at this point but I've been sketching out some ideas and I'm working on figuring out key pieces of furniture to help finalize the design.

That said.. I'm loving your use of the SS counters... maybe you could get an old metal file cab and paint it up in tool box red and slap some SO or something labels on it. Find some old racing prints or something that continues the theme from your garage... old wrenches on the walls, etc. Just a few thoughts :)

I'm considering getting a 56 in base cab with a hutch for the entertainment center. Take the wheels off the base cab and it's a good height. Open the hutch door and have a 42 lcd TV inside.

It's a lot of money to tie up cause it would look cool. On the other hand I think it would be very cool. I'm just going to think about it for a few weeks.

Maybe see if you could find something similar and paint it or something. Unless you can find some cheap used boxes at a local auction, etc... I agree with it being a bit much to spend just because it "looks cool". Then again if you've ever priced high end designer furniture..... you pay for that too. Looks cost. I keep eyeing Eames "aluminum group" office chairs.. to the tune of $600+
