When using anti-slip polymer beads, such as SharkGrip and etc, you want to mix the media into the last coat. Be sure to occasionally stir or it will settle to the bottom of your paint tray.

The only time you would encapsulate with a second coat is if you are applying an extremely aggressive and large size grit.

If using aluminum oxide or similar aggregate, broadcast into the coating and quickly backroll, encapsulating into the sealer.

Thank you for your responses. I have read directions for the aspergrit from ghostshield and read a lot about encapsulating the material as well. But, being small material, that makes a little better sense in top coat. Ya, just cant go back and redo it that easy so that's why I was asking. I have several other projects to do so probably something different next time.
Thank you

Well, here is 1/2 of my project! Its a laundry facility and bathroom. Finished the laundry room today and it is still drying. My first coat was a little dry. I believe it was because I didn't roll it on wet enough not knowing how far the material would go. I mixed in the aspergrit from ghost shield for the second coat and I believe it turned out pretty nice for the first try. A little experience goes a long ways.

The way we used to apply nonskid to yacht decks is this:

After masking off all areas in which nonskid was NOT desired, evenly apply first coat of paint and immediately broadcast fine sand or crushed walnut shell (using a perforated can like a salt shaker) to provide more than 100% coverage (really!). After paint had dried (overnight, usually) sweep and vacuum off all excess. Immediately apply light topcoat.

This method resulted in a very evenly coated area with no variation in nonskid density.
