Broke a piece on my Air Compressor

I took the compressor outside to paint it today. I went to take off the Electrical Components found on the top front of the compressor. As I was undoing the bolt, I twisted it to much, and the wire found in the picture below broke. It goes from the electrical box to the input of the tank, found at the very top. I finished painting it, and then hooked it up. It works, but at about 40psi, it blows air. Any idea what this is? I'm sure its needed, so where could I find a replacement?

Thanks in Advance

From the picture I am guessing it is the unloader feed line. This removes the pressure from the top of the pistons so the motor does not have to start the next cycle trying to push against the 100 psi of resistence.

Did you compressor shut off and reliese a bust of air as it stops? It probably doesn't now.

Look at the bottom of the pressure switch and see if the other half of that fitting is screwed into the pressure switch. If your lucky it is and you can replace it with a male elbow as seen in the link above. If it is apart of the molded body of the switch then your going to have to replace the switch or be creative. The link I posted is just one of many vendors of push lock style fittings.
