Broke an impact socket last night.

Napa (Sunex) brand, 3/8 drive, 18mm, 6pt deep. Cracked right on the "flank drive" corner cut out. This one and the 21mm have been getting a work out in the last few months. Mack likes to use 12mm flange bolts in the frame with 18mm hex on the bolt & 21mm on the nut.

Already getting a replacement probably monday (which means tuesday for me, second shift). I had not broken an impact socket until this one so I'm a bit surprised about it, sort of.

There's more variation in the heat-treating process than most manufactures will admit to.

You probably got one of the ones that was a little too hard/brittle.

using 1/2" gun and adapter?

You probably got one of the ones that was a little too hard/brittle.

Could be. The Sunex sockets are thinner walled the other's I've seen, to the point where I took my chrome socket's home.
