I thought I should post an update to let you all know that I did receive a new replacement socket, just as promised. So although I had a long wait (just like when I originally bought it), the warranty was honored to my satisfaction.

considering the cost of the wheels its made to remove i think thats the least of your concerns.

Dont effect my world. I think its ridiculous. Obviously not your average mechanical devise.
And if it broke was it worth all the cash in the first place? lol..I can get the same results from a harbor freight socket. period.
I can afford one of those wheels..can you?:D

Oh, ye of little faith. NASA has the worlds most expensive combination cordless drill/driver/torque wrench:

sts125_15.jpg

It's called the "Pistol Grip Tool" and its a fully shielded beast. The PGT has a 3/8″ drive that works with multiple types fasteners. It can dish out .7 to 25 ft-lbs of torque in its motorized mode, and up to 35 ft-lbs in manual mode. The speed of the device ranges from 0 to 60 RPM, and even the number of revolutions per pull of the trigger can be programmed. Oh, and since astronauts have sausage fingers with those pressurized gloves, Mission Control can adjust all the various settings wirelessly if they need to.

The LED display shows status info and the rpm or torque being applied. On one charge the 39V batteries, which can be changed mid-mission, will drive 80 fasteners down to 25 ft-lbs.

I don't think that kind of sockets are suitable for use with an impact gun, specially a 2135Ti. You forced the tool.

Glad everything worked out; I guess Hazet does stand behind its warranty or Jens has killer Hazet AG connection! Either way; Jens seems like a awesome dealer and is willing to go above and beyond to make customers or soon to be customers happy! So, Jens what was the background on this warranty? Did Hazet swallow it or did you have to do something special to get it done? I think we across the pond would like to know! I am still confused about the German tool industries warranty... :) Thanks for making it happen for scottmlew! Let us know how the new tool performs... :)
PS: are you going to do everything by hand now? :)

Just to make it clear: I didn't sell the tool to Scott, also I didn't replace it. It was just that I offered to help him if his dealer wouldn't. And yes, I have good connections to Hazet and they are willing to do everything reasonable to honor their warranty.

Right Tool for the tight job. I would buy it to protect the Wheels. You would too if you had an AMG with expensive to replace or refinish Wheels like those.

Wonder why they would make this battery powered and not plug in.

Jens, its even more commendable that you got it handled; BECAUSE of the fact you did not sell it to him! I can only imagine that you now have a NEW customer; because of your willingness to get the situation handled! :) Bravo, to you and Hazet AG! :)

All this very good, informative discussion reinforces my long held belief that I should buy commonly availiable cars with steel wheels that require no special attention.

BTW, does this car not have tire changing tools with it? What is the driver supposed to do if he/she runs over a piece of steel on a dark and rainy night and destroys the tire? My wife did that last year and I think that piece of steel would have destroyed one of those expensive run flat tires. She called me to drive 20 miles to change the tire, which was fine, but she could have changed the tire if necessary.

Jens sounds like a great dealer (and I would definitely consider using him for future Hazet purchases), but to clarify -- I bought the socket from Chad's, and when I contacted them about warranty, they referred me to their distributor, who handled things with zero hassle.

scottmlew, sorry about the confusion; I guess I assumed that you went with Jens, bypassing Chads but after going over all the pages... noticed you mentioned, A&E as their distributor. Can you tell us who the distributor is and their contact info, website etc? I would assume this info would be useful for others seeking warranty service; any info on what was required to handle the warranty and the turnaround time to get a replacement tool was? Thanks for the clarification! :)

That is quite allot for a none marring impact socket. Even for MB. It is about 90 dollars in germany for that socket, but you are paying MB. Think the Hazet price is allot less.

I tried the none marring, that are not really very strong when used on the breaker bar. Breaker bars split more impact sockets then an impact driver. There was a long discussion on impact sockets on other thread that got a tad heated.
