Broken Door Knob-cheap design

I swung basement door open and the interior lock hit the concrete wall. There really wasn't much force involved but some of the parts inside are plastic and prone to damage. Since then I have fixed the knob and actually bought another to replace it, also fabricated/installed my own rubber door stops. What I am wondering is if there are door knobs that don't contain crummy plastic parts. After opening all of the knob sets at home depot, inspection proved that they all contained plastic, some more than others. I am wondering if there is a good american made doorknob out there that has a more robust construction and superior components. I am also thinking about a keyed entry for my Bilco doors as it would be a great convenience to me. Can anyone give me insight on either topic?

Thanks guys!

There sure are, but you're going to pay for it. Look for commercial grade, ANSI grade 1 locks. I've got Schlage A series knobsets and ND series leversets on my exterior doors.

A quick search shows $150 and up, sound about right? Probably won't do that since there is a bilco door, if it was for a garage door I wouldn't mind paying up for the security.

Check out the S Parker SL7160A-26D. They are import, but great quality and we sell 100s of them and they never come back. Around $60
