I'm looking at two Morgan #30 vises, both of which have damage/broken slide sides. I've attached photos of each.

The seller's asking $45 for either. Is either worth that price with this damage?

I don't "need" either, I've just had my eye out for a good vise for the garage.

Thanks!

If your going to use it as a vise and that specific vise will work for what you need then buy it. But both vises being broken i would tend to shy away from that brand vice.

I think $45 is about $35 too high for a broken Morgan of that size. Depending on where you are, there are lots of folks here on GJ that have extra vises available (including me.) I'm guessing you are in Nebraska?

BTW, Morgans are good vises, and they are still in business.

Any brand vise with that type of slide will break if dropped hard enough on its tail.

A 3-inch non-swivel Morgan in great condition is worth about $40 in the Chicago area. Broken Morgans are worth nothing.

Thanks. Considering the small size of this vise, and the dmg, I think I'm going to pass. I'm with you.

No. Grew up in NE (Husker for life) but live in North Dallas.

Probably worth the same down here in Dallas.

Thanks, all, for the responses!!

I had one. Its an okay vise if you need a small vise...but not if its broken. I paid $2 for this one- the front slide support was missing, but I just made a "rest" for the slide out of wood. It worked fine, for $2.

It's nice to have nice things.

When people state "doesn't change function", just like a car with tons of body work issues.
