Just swapping lock cylinder barrels on one of my chests tonight and discovered this:

Put a brand new lock cylinder barrel in and it won't turn more than a few degrees. I think that the case cylinder assembly the barrel goes into is deformed. Is this sort of thing covered by SO warranty?

The old lock used to work fine despite the damage...

I don't see why not; the warranty is for the original owner of the box. Call Snapon customer service or contact your local dealer. Worst case scenario; you can purchase what you need online, by looking up your box on the replacement parts section on Snapon's website:

Find your toolbox model number and look at the links towards the bottom of the page under the links "tool storage":

Too bad you live so far. I've got a bunch of brand new locks from keying all my boxes alike.

Yeah, the bummer is that I have just bought three new keys and barrels from SO to mount on some new to me cabs so they're all on the same key.

I had just taken the two shown in the first post out and had sold them to a fellow welder on another forum prior to removal. I didn't know one was broken until removing it but I can't sell it in the current state as Murphy points out if it had broken in situ, it would have been some job to get it out.

I'll get on the phone to SO customer services later today

Snap pn has a form now to request a lock or multiple locks of a specific number. I dealt with the fiasco when we ordered more boxes and wanted the same locks as before. They screwed it up several times before a manager got mad enough that a procedure and form was made to get it done
