Hi Fellas

Has anyone ever had a plastic toolbox latch snap in half on them ? Can you but replacements for them ? What about using a good plastic glue any recommendations on which one to try ? I'm not a big Crazy Glue fan. The toolbox does not have a name on it .

Thanks and Merry Christmas !

Rivet or screw a hardware store hasp to the box. It's not like it will reduce resale value of a no name plastic box.

The value of it is all in the use you get.

IF you want plastic hinges, Coleman sells hinge replacements for their ice chests. Can be bought at many sporting good stores.

This.

IF you want plastic hinges, Coleman sells hinge replacements for their ice chests. Can be bought at many sporting good stores.

Coleman also sells stainless steel hinges that fit their steel coolers. BUT if you have a plastic Coleman cooler, the screw holes are in the same place, so when the plastic hinges failed, I replaced mine with stainless ones.

When the plastic hinges failed on my Igloo cooler, I replaced it with stainless piano hinge.

That still doesn't explain what to do with a failed latch though.

Toss it and buy the blue point plastic box, I have one and it weight at least 200# and the handle holds as well as clasp and no cracks or stress marks it's tough plastic like nylon or reinforced idk but the best I've ever had and I found it in a dumpster lol but it is still made and in the catalog. You can't beat it and it's not toeexpensive and has the tray with handle also tough won't flex or anything and holds 50# fine, I usually don't keep that much in it but I've been adding too much lately but waiting on my custom snap on box to get here. Hey also the snap on tool bags are the best as well as I got a green one in our vehicle for a road bag and it's the second largest and double thick Kevlar type material won't burn with nice liner and reinforced zipper and bottom very nice and opens wide has 60#s in it at least and it use to have over 100# in it has shoulder strap and handles and double zippers which are big and accept padlock, I highly recommend both.

Toss it and buy the blue point plastic box

Made by Flambeau.
I believe red is exclusive to the Blue-Point version.
But so is the Snap-on markup.
The removeable tray can be a hassle to line up sometimes when loaded, but nonetheless, a solid box, with heavy duty latches.
