Brown & Sharpe combination square vs Starrett?

Anybody have thoughts on how the Brown & Sharpe combination squares compare with Starrett's? I know the Swiss-made B&S products tend to be good, but the squares are made in USA, and I don't know anything about their US manufacturing.

I prefer the markings on Starrett's rules. But this is really splitting hairs. Both are outstandingly excellent. I had a Mitutoyo from Mexico and didn't care for it. My favorite is a Starrett 1940-50s vintage head set with new satin chrome rulers.

I have a B&S at home, a Starrett at work. The Starrett is forged with a satin chrome rule, it's much nicer. If you compare Starrett cast iron they're closer, but the Starrett rule is still the best. The Brownie is damn good and about half the price.

I have both, my Starrett (circa 1988)at home and my Brown & Sharpe (circa 1970 approx.) at work that was given to me by my brother's ex-father iaw who retired. Both are excellent, but the B&S has a slight krinkle finish on the square heads (its a 4pc.). I don't think you go wrong with either.

Cool, the B&S is far cheaper - I was going to get a forged square head to use with blade of my bevel protractor, but for only $7 more I can get a B&S set that includes a satin chrome blade, a hardened square head and a hardened center finding head.

I have both... equal / tie if they're satin chrome.. The "plain steel" Starrett have a bit of an edge (deeper engravings)....
