I picked up this Brown and Sharpe pedestal/arbor the other day which was allegedly driven by an overhead flat belt. I'm posting it here because A. I couldn't find another one and I thought some people might find it interesting. And B. I couldn't find another one and so if anybody has any info to add it would be appreciated. Perhaps you've seen another Brown and Sharpe pedestal? I couldn't even find just the pedestal with the Brown and Sharpe cast into it.
Also... I apologize but I'm not with the piece right now and I noticed that I neglected to get a picture of the cast iron cover that rests on top of the arbor and has two slots in it which I suppose could allow for an overhead flat belt. But I can get a picture of that and add it in later on.

** I uploaded a handful of images and I don't know why they don't appear?

That's consistent with something that B&S would have made in the flat belt era, probably a grinder arbor. I have B&S catalogs back to the early 1900's but they're in NY and I'm not right now. Obviously pictures are necessary to identify what you've got. You may not have enough posts to permit uploading pictures. Are you thinking of selling it?

I didn't buy it with the intention of selling it per se. I'm a collector and I typically buy stuff that I really like aesthetically and/or that will have a practical use for me (but it's almost always really old). However... I have a couple dozen grinders/arbors and a few cast iron pedestals so I'm not necessarily married to this one. And I also bought what I feel is pretty elaborate for a table top Camelback drill press from the same guy. Oh, and a Reed 214R so it was worth the couple-ish hours round trip.

Interesting. I also don't have time right now but thanks much for making those available. I also don't have time to properly follow up here but I'm just going to quick try and throw a pic in and see if it works yet.

Ok, last try here for something. I just went ahead and shot a brief video and I left it unlisted but you should be able to pull it up with the URL.

I should have mentioned... The pancake motor that you might see a glimpse of is something that I already had. The motor that was set up on the pedestal was just a pedestrian washer machine type motor and I told the seller to keep it as I don't need it.
