My backyard has some spots that have some thicker weeds that my m18 string trimmer cant knock down. I was doing some searching and found some "blades" that go on string trimmers. Was at menards today and they had about 5 different blades in the trimmer area. So I bought one to try. Only issue is they didnt have the adapter needed to hold the blade on in place of the line head.

Just wondering if anyone else has put a blade on their trimmer and what all was needed? Also how did it work?

If the m18 doesnt have enough power I do have a gas trimmer I can put it on. I may end up doing this anyway since I dont use my gas trimmer anymore. Has been sitting for three years since getting the milwaukee, so will probably have to clean the carb to get it going. But could mount the blade on it and leave it as a dedicated blade trimmer. But would still like to try it on my m18 first. Just because the cordless is so much more convenient.

I had issues with my M18 when I took off the string guard. Everytime I fed longer lines it stalled out. I doubt the M18 will like a blade based on that experience. I did put the guard back on and have had zero stalling issues.

I got tired of messing with string heads on my M18 String Trimmer as well and got one of these. Works well for me for everything my yard short of stick-like or hard stalked plants. Several models available and install in seconds. Lighter than the Milwaukee head too. Use them on my Ryobi gas trimmer too. Less dangerous than a steel blade.

Amazon has the adapter kits…….usually a cup, washer and reverse thread nut.

That said……..most string trimmers are NOT designed for the heavier weight blade and cutting load.
So you may see an acceleration in wear and tear. Bearing and shaft wear/breakage, excessive amounts draw may also trigger circuit overload protecting the motor/battery.

A true brush cutter ( trimmer) will a have two handle bar system for better control when the blade grabs or tangles. So be careful……..

A true brush cutter in gas versions are always powered by a much large engine than than the string only model. So the M18 might struggle with the extra load.
