Buck Booster Transformer

I was given this transformer from my dad who bought it new when he bought a tanning bed a few years ago. He sold the tanning bed and told me I could do what I want with it.
He explained to me what it does but I'm wondering is it really useful for anything other than a tanning bed? Is there any type of shop equipment or anything like that that it may be useful for down the road?
I'm currently building a shop with a car lift, soon to have a much larger welder, will at some point be getting a mill and possibly a lathe. The list of things I might buy if I found a deal is almost endless.

Should I keep it around for anything or should I start looking for a good place to sell it?

The only thing you can use it for is if you have a piece of equipment that needs a different voltage than your service voltage.

For example, say you have a piece of equipment that needs 240V to run and your electrical service is 208Y. You would use the book boost transformer to step up the voltage.

That's how I pretty much understood it. Just wasn't sure if could be useful for anything else. I'll just list it for sale. Thanks

But if it is a 120 to 240 or 240 to 120 it is worth keeping. If I read right it is a 1 kva reducing to 12-24. Not really useful. But you might get $50.

Had a couple people tell me I could use it to build other things. One person suggested making a welder out of it. Someone else said a 24v battery charger. If I can find something neat or entertaining to do with it that would be cool

I'm seeing alot of DIY plasma cutters online. Foes anyone know if this transformer would be a good candidate to build a plasma cutter out of?

It's essentially a 120/240 VAC to 12/24 VAC output transformer. It has a maximum current of 41A on the secondary. So you could use it for anything that needs up to 41A of 12 or 24 Volts AC.

I am sure there is a use for it somewhere some place but I got a lot of **** and don't have one like it, never needed one. If I was good at selling it would be gone.
