Bucket handle Question

I have two 5 gallon tool buckets. Both have tool aprons on them. One is outfitted for electrical and the other for general home repairs. These are my grab and go tools when someone calls me with minor problem.

The cheap plastic handles on the wire handles are worn out.

Not looking to get rid of the buckets,not looking to change to canvas tool bag, etc.

I like my buckets and need to fix the handles (permenantly).

Anybody got any suggestions?

Get a couple sizes of rubber hose. Smallest one first and increase hose size to what ever handle size is comfy. Don't cut the hoses, slip them over the end of thewire and use dish detergent to lube for the larger hoses over the smaller ones.

The hose is a simple way to go.

I'd probably use leather since I have a lot of that. If I wanted to get fancy I'd do it like the leather handles of a Kbar. That would be cool.

I have a handle I got as a painting supply that clips on the wire handle. It is a padded handle with screwdriver on one end and another little tool on the other. Works great and gives me about a 1.5" handle so the wire handle doesn't dig into my hand anymore.
