I think I am going to try some Rid O Rust and see how it does.

Looks like the ticket

We had a system that used bleach and a resin bed, worked OK.
I am looking at an air pump system, to get away from the chemicals.

Wife's preference to not utilize chemicals when we can.

Rid O Rust works it is just going to take probably 3 passes and ALOT more than I thought.

I got the walls done and about 1/5 of my slab with 2 gallons. 😒

Ordered 8 more gallons to complete the cleaning.

Need to update this thread

3 passes with the Rid O Rust and only some spots to attack yet. (I’m almost good with how it looks now)

Floor joist and subfloor installed yesterday.

Starting on walls today - pictures later tonight
Finalized the room layout - changed from original plans. (By the boss....aka the Wife)

Only one screw up (and its a big one) some how my elevation calculations / measurements were screwed up way back at the beginning and everything is 2 1/2" higher than it should be. No fixing that at this point, will have to make it work inside the house some how.

This means the front two rooms are 2.5" higher than finished floor level in the main house. Was difficult to figure as the floor inside this area is an old closed in porch that still had the drainage pitch on it.

Second floor is right as we could transfer that level right through the wall to figure top plate height. (we drilled a hole)

If you want the floor fixed it is tie to do it now before you proceed further. It will never be easier or cheaper.
Things are progressing well!

We figured out an acceptable plan to make it "work" yesterday - not ideal but I'm not dismantling the structure at this point. IF I had caught it after the walls were poured I would have been able to build the floor structure differently to make it work.

On a bonus the garage structure is coming along VERY nicely.

Another delay in my build, as we are waiting on trusses.

The crew, Father In Law and I, both have vacations in August so the trusses won't get set until the 29th of August. Really wanted to get things dried in before then, but it is what it is.

Can't wait to see what it looks like with those attic trusses in place.

Booked a Telehandler this morning to have on hand for that weekend, and informed all the people that want to help to schedule it, we will see how many extra hands I get for that day. Most are good ground crew members, wish more of my willing friends were good with their feet off the ground. ;)

Concrete is sealed.

Last Tuesday I hit it with the 4500 densifier.

Yesterday it got the 8510.
Covered more than expected and I have a gallon left over for dressing it in the future.

Windows, doors, siding, trim being delivered tomorrow or Thursday.

Roofing will be ordered tomorrow.

Windows installed this weekend.

Have some thinking to do on my soffits. Using Hardie panel vented.
Eve is supposed to be 24” and is 25”. I have a 1” thick trim board that will be under the eve on wall.

Hardie siding will be installed.

Option A - cheat soffit to split difference and caulk 1/4” seam at facia.
Option B - place a 7/16” spacer behind trim board and caulk seam between trim and siding to cover.
Option C - Any other Solutions?

Figured out an Option C that is best.

They make a 2x4 trim piece in the Boral Trim I am using for my project. This will give me the extra 1/2" required to make the soffit look right and proper trim without a spacer or extra caulk.

Looks like your moving right along. Are you doing most of the work yourself?

I contracted out the concrete work and had a "crew" of volunteer helpers to set the trusses a few Saturdays ago. Other than that it has been my father in law and myself framing to this point.

I released him from his commitment after we got past everything dried in. Although I think he wants to help some more - I couldn't keep him ******* any longer.

Just started Soffits last night, picking up some different trim this morning to cover up an item / step missed. Measure those tails before you put on your facia :monkey_po

Waiting on some hardware to mount the doors & a friend to help with the garage doors. Should really look different in the next week or two. Hopefully siding to be started in that time.

A lil note from the bird lake guy - your build looks GREAT - tuff going during the pandemic - but, great build

haven't been on bird lake much this summer - how are your aunt and uncle doing with their bird lake build ??( the only true way I can see progress is from the water)

I have not been over there since I started my build. From the pictures and discussions last weekend with them it has ALOT of visual changes recently. They have all the decks built on the lake side - two stories and have an Amish crew working on siding the house now.

Had to take a slight break due to other commitments, siding hopefully to get started next week.

Hope the roofing crew shows tomorrow to put on the shingles.

Maintenence on the wife’s ride before our Gauley rafting trip this weekend down in WV.
