Well the exterior is completely ready for winter.

Sided, painted and caulked
Roof is flashed and sealed

Gutters may wait until spring.

Second coat of paint will get done when the whole house is painted next summer.

Onto electrical once deer season is over

Thanks guys, it has been alot of work. After next weeks work travel I hope to get it wired up and fully functional.

Insulation, and finishing will happen over the next two years as time and budget allows.

I can honestly say I touched every board that is in this build. While I had some help and am very thankful for that it has been a long summer / fall.

what color blue is that / paint manuf etc? Looks really good.

I've been playing around with a bunch of different blue tones for my exterior siding but I really like the color you went with... its very similar to what I'm looking at.

Long story on the color.

Wife drove past a new construction home last year and loved the color. Contractor would not return her calls, so she finally stopped and left a note. Home owner called her and gave us a sample of the vinyl they installed. The whole process took over a year.

Had Lowes try to match it and what a joke.

Ended up ant Sherwin Williams store and they hit it on first try.

So don’t have a color code, but maybe the code on the can could do you some good at a Sherwin Williams?

The few things inspector made me change are done. Waiting for a few more degrees in temp to finish my outside fixtures.

One garage door opener installed (on wife's door)
Maybe the second one tonight - we will see

Will likely add an outlet for the lights for the garage doors - forgot how they plugged in. Currently temp mounting on side wall.

Slowly working away at a few things inside.

Front wall 5/8” fire wall hung today.

Next plumbing for bath then Electrical for the bath & Mudroom.

A) Entry steps / platform into Mudroom area completed last night

B) Winch and truck cap storage done last weekend. I will have a secondary pully in the far bay to use winch while cap is stored.

The Boral does a nice job and paints up extremely well. It is on the soft side, I see where one corner has been bumped and it chipped the edge off. This is on the corner of the garage where the entry door is. So likely someone carrying a tool or lumber bumped into it.

I wanted a material that held paint well so that I can have minimal maintenance and still look like wood trim.

Have used a lot of it for corners and wide facia -- I typically do custom built up window trim so that has to be a different material .. for flat stock the Boral is the ticket for me. It's easy to patch

They also make a very nice simple skirtboard (picture) -- Boral is ground contact rated. Boral for the skirt and Hardi above. Hardi is not ground contact

I find the Ben Moore 094 primer works the best w/ latex top coat. I like the smooth side.

Moving onto finishing off the Bath & Mud room area of our build.

Rough wiring done this morning.

I decided I’m redoing the water plumbing in the whole house, as it is a mess w/ 5 different types of lines.

New manifolds built this evening.
PEX-A being installed in whole basement / first floor. Upstairs bath will be tied into existing lines in basement (circa 1990)

Biggest challenge maybe mounting the manifold to the basement walls. 140+ year old field stone foundation walls are HARD!

Decided I needed to add drain valves to the bottom of each manifold. As it will be a “trap” for water due to its shape and position.

Will modify them before it gets mounted next weekend.

Rough in DWV done a few weeks ago. (Still needs roof vent installed and tied into septic line)
New water supply manifold, iron filter and PEX A installed a few weeks ago and running beautifully. Whole Basement was redone as the house had 6 different types of plumbing from over the 125+ years.

Set the shower pan yesterday
Next up is shower drain installation, & shower backer board installation.

Slowly working on the bath as time allows. Put up the shower backer board, used GoBoard. Easy to use and cut. Sealing it up is a mess, but that is likely more a function of the “tool” applying it. (LOL a.k.a Me)

July we are going to tackle the patio / sidewalks outside, so we quit tracking sand everywhere. Send ibuprofen now

while I have the Mini the list is hopefully not too long.
1) install tiles to run downspouts under patio to other side of driveway.
2)remove another old concrete sidewalk & and plant in back yard.
3) remove 8-10” of sand to get grade to level for sub base.
4) install 4-5” of sub base and compact
5) dig and install waste line from bathroom addition
6) hopefully regrade north side of garage. (Seed in the fall)
7) install retaining wall for sidewalk to garage entry.
8) install sand base for final grade under pavers
9) install pavers

damn that list is more intimidating now that I type it out.

Well a few machines and a days worth of work and we have removed the old sidewalk & excavated the area for the patio.

around 1300 ft2 of patio to go in.

stone getting delivered today for sub base, but forecast is not looking good to get it down any time soon.

Well it has rained pretty much every day since we did this excavation.

The two loads of stone set where they were delivered on Monday and I hope to get some of it put in place this next weekend/week.
My buddy said keep the mini until I'm done, awesome friend did I already say that?

While the loader tractor and skid steer went back to their prospective farms, they will be available again when I need them.

The majority of that pile of dirt will be relocated to the north side of my garage build to do the final grading and make the hillside shed water better.

However before I get to that point I will be installing drain tiles to each downspout on the house so that all rain water from the roof is directed far away from the house. The basement has always been damp I hope this solves that issue. Also the sewer waste line from the new bathroom in garage addition will be plumbed to the septic tanks hopefully this next week.

If only it would stay dry for more than a few hours.

One more box & tile to place in the morning. After I get my grade strings reset to know where it goes, as it will be in the paver patio area.

This weekend I started the retaining wall for the sidewalk to the man door on my garage.

the wall ended up much longer than I planned. Roughly 2x’s the number of block need than what I had. Will have to source some more. Scored these second hand a few years back. Wall needs 3 more rows ontop of what is there & the whole wall build up in the second picture. 200ish more block needed.

Any one close to MI/OH line with a lead / source?
